Glenda Jackson, the Oscar-winning actress and former politician, has died.

Jackson twice won the Best Actress Academy Award, for 1970’sWomen in Loveand 1973’sA Touch of Class.

She was also nominated in the same category for 1971’sSunday Bloody Sundayand 1975’sHedda.

She left Parliament in 2013.

Prior to becoming an MP, Jackson acted in films like 1971’sMary, Queen of Scotsand 1980’sHopscotch.

After leaving Parliament, Jackson returned to acting.

In 2018, she won a Tony Award for her performance in a revival of Edward Albee’sThree Tall Women.

She also recently played the title role ina Broadway production ofKing Learalongside Ruth Wilson and Pedro Pascal.

“Well, I jib at the idea that I won them,“she once told EW.

“I did nothing apart from what the job I was given.

If there was a winner, it was the people who voted for me.

My sardonic view is that they’re not as important as everyone thinks they are.
